Transition to digital television broadcasting has reduced carbon emissions

According to paragraph 5.1.7 of the Action Plan for the implementation of the “State Program for the Implementation of the National Strategy for the Development of the Information Society in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2016-2020”, approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated September 20, 2016, the National Television and Radio Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan decided to suspend analog broadcasting of nationwide terrestrial television programs in the city of Baku and the Absheron Peninsula from November 1, 2016 and Analog terrestrial broadcasting of television programs broadcast in other regions of the republic from December 1, 2016, from September 27, 2016. Resolution No. 10 of 2011 was issued and put into effect. Thus, the transition to digital television broadcasting of the DVB-T standard has been fully completed with the termination of analog television broadcasting in the country.
The switch from analogue to digital television has resulted in, among other benefits, a significant reduction in carbon emissions.
