Digital radio broadcasting has been introduced in the Central Aran region and adjacent areas

In accordance with the Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated October 7, 2023, No. 818c, the “Action Plan for the introduction and development of digital radio broadcasting in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan” is being implemented.
Thus, on March 12, 2025, the 1000 W DAB+ radio transmitter of the “SYES” brand, which has been providing digital radio broadcasting from the Baku TV Tower Complex since 2019, was replaced with a more modern and powerful 3000 W DAB+ radio transmitter of the same brand.
As part of the implementation of the Action Plan, a 3000 W DAB+ radio transmitter of the “SYES” brand and an antenna-feeder system were installed at the Gulistan Radio and Television Broadcasting Station located in the Agsu district, and the digital radio broadcasting network was expanded.
Thus, in the Central Aran region, Agsu, Shamakhi and Ismayilli districts, as well as in the adjacent territories, uninterrupted reception of 12 radio programs in the single-frequency mode (SFN) 223.936 MHz is ensured.
Please note that digital radio broadcasting of the DAB + standard is widely used in the countries of the European Union and other developed countries. In Azerbaijan, in accordance with the above-mentioned Order, measures are also being taken to transition to this standard.
The purpose of the transition is to ensure digitalization in the field of radio broadcasting, efficient use of frequency resources, the introduction of modern and higher-quality radio broadcasting throughout the country, the organization of new types of digital information services, as well as strengthening the security of the airspace.
As a result of the implementation of the approved Action Plan, it is planned that 99.6 percent of the country’s territory will be covered by digital radio broadcasting.
To achieve this goal, measures are being taken to expand the digital radio broadcasting network throughout the country. Currently, several post offices of Azerpost LLC operating in Baku (post offices with indexes AZ1000, AZ1001, AZ1017, AZ1073, AZ1124 and AZ1138) sell DAB+ radio receivers of various modifications. It should be noted that the transition from analog FM radio broadcasting to digital DAB+ radio broadcasting will take into account the number of vehicles equipped with digital radio, the availability of a sufficient number of DAB+ radio receivers on sale, as well as the level of awareness of the population.
